"A hurricane? Are you sure that's what you heard?" asked CB. BP quickly told her that Stu's Dad told everyone that
a hurricane was heading towards the beach and would be there the next day! CB looking out the window said, "It does look a little choppy out there. Are you really sure it's going to get bad?"
BP ran to ask Missy and Stu. She was told that hurricane was not very big and was far out to sea, so the wind would blow a lot and the surf would rise, but there was no danger. Missy was working on a puzzle in the living room, so CB and BP decided to help. They also wanted to be near someone, just in case.
Dad came into the room and wanted to turn on the Weather Channel to listen to the storm reports. He soon discovered that cable was not working in this half of the cabin, so he went to the other side to check. "We had better secure everything just in case," said Dad when he returned. "It should hit some time tonight!" Dad went over to the TV and changed the channel to the local Oak Island broadcast. The mechanical voice began talking about local government news, then it began to list the nearby beaches and the height of the surf. "Oak Island, Seas 1 foot." BP whispered to CB, "that isn't very high." "I guess we needn't worry, then," CB whispered back. The morning progressed, and the girls had fun working on the puzzle and taking a walk along the beach. "It is so pretty here!" said BP, and CB agreed with her. "Look there's Stu. Let's go sit with him on the deck for a while." The girls ran up to the cabin and plopped down next to Stu. "Are you girls having fun?" he asked. "Lots! Thanks for bring us!" said BP. "We wouldn't have come without you," he said. They all sat for a while and enjoyed the sounds of the surf and the birds.
